Auto power on on AC restore.

Post by zurk »

Just had an outage and both my ASUSTOR NAS units shut down correctly as per UPS, the UPS then lost power completely (batteries drained) but they did not start up when UPS restored AC power around 3 hours later. That is despite having a wake on schedule which was set to trigger power on every hour. when i came back i had to manually power both units on.
So please add a always on option when AC power is available. we should not have to hit the power button.

I wish this forum had some way to vote for a feature. If so, this is one I personally would be voting for. My UPS can give me about 45 minutes on the NAS before it shuts the NAS down. So far the longest outage I've had is about 10 minutes. That means nothing though, since the NAS hasn't shut down yet...

When it does, I would think that the power coming back on should have been enough to trigger the NAS turning back on.

This should already be a part of the ADM, IMO....

I want to come along this train ride. I got four 12V 180Ah AGM-batteries which would keep my NAS running for a long time. But, I got more connected to this UPS-solution such as incoming optical signal reciever, a Cisco Switch and a couple of 18W LED-spotlights around the house and more. So, when these batteries run out, I stand there with a NAS that wont automatically come back on. If I am away, this can become a big issue.

This should be supported. You can enable power resume under ADM web page -> Settings -> Hardware -> Power. My AS304T did not appear this option (enabled by default), but the function is working fine. I got the information from asustor's support guy before. If you got troubles about it, you should send a support request to asustor.

UPS should gain more functions, like gracefully shutting down, working as UPS server / client. However, you might need to check the supported UPS models.
