Apple Timemachine Mount

Post by Pexi_ »

So... Im not sure whether this it the right place or not... BUT... with quick googling I coulndt find answers so...

I was hoping to somehow "mount" my timemachine-image inside the NAS and then make it to make a copy to and external hard-drive...
I know this might sound little "crazy", but let me explain why Im asking.

I have fairly large music collection on my mac and my mac makes timemachine backups to my NAS... In a case like in the near history that my mac started to freeze randomly, I needed to get the music collection out of my hard-drive, to use it with other computer... this seemed to take awful lot of time... so I was wondering what if I would have one external harddrive attached to my NAS which would contain this specific collection, and so that it is i.e. weekly updated to the newest according to the current timemachine backup.

And for this Id need somehow mount the timemachine-image inside NAS itself. Cos if you just go poking around it in the file explorer, all you find is just a bunch of weirdly named files and folders, instead of folders named after the backup-date and time like when mounted.

Once I could get it to mount automatically, I could program NAS to copy changes from the folder, to my external HD, and so I would have "spare"-collection on-the-go if needed :)

Thx and sorry for the long and gibberish explanation!
