I would like to read more info about this feature:
http://www.asustor.com/admv2?lan=en&typ ... en#content
I'm an happy owner of an AS-302T and I appreciate the Sleep Mode (S3) function but, based on my experience, it's not an automated process.
According to Asustor page i linked above, it seems that now the NAS manages it from its own like the hibernation mode. Am i correct?
In case, is it a feature to be implemented in the future or is it available only for last NAS models?
Thanks for any reply,
Alessandro

S3 is not an automated process. It is like power off but can turn on very quickly. You can wake up the NAS through WOL or remote control also. And hibernation is for hard drives. Now Asustor has the scheduled S3 mode in the new 2.3 but if you have many multimedia apps which will probe the system frequently then it will not automatically enter S3 either.

'm pretty sure this needs to run through the AI portal when connected directly to a TV. As to why it's not on AS3 series, it's likely because it's a 64bit package and AS2/3 are 32bit only. Why that is is a separate question.

Sorry, it's my fault but i don't understand what you mean.. could you write it again?nomi wrote:'m pretty sure this needs to run through the AI portal when connected directly to a TV. Uhm very interesting... where did you read the info about the 2.3 AMD version?Kerry wrote:S3 is not an automated process. It is like power off but can turn on very quickly. I opened a ticket to know more about S3 sleep implementation: they were very kind and they confirmed me that there's no automated process but if you like, there's an option to put the NAS in this mode at a scheduled time (but yo can only set 12 timers..)
At this point, what i really miss, is the WOL function for AiMaster (mobile app) working also over internet, when I'm not on the same network: I don't like the idea to use 3rd party apps to achieve this task... who knows... maybe next update..?
