Hi

Post by BeanR »

Hey

I have been out to buy a new router and are facing a problem.
I connected my nas to the new router and got this massage in EZ-router:

multiple routers detected the router's ip is different than the nas external ip. Please check your network environment first.

How do I handle this?

Sounds that you make your new and old routers work at the same time. It seems that your routers are cascading. You should put your nas to one of the outside router network ports. The outside router is the router that connects to your service provider. If you don't know which one, you can simply connect nas to the other one.

Sound like you are double NATed. Meaning you have your router connected to a device (modem) that has NAT enabled as well. Does the modem from your ISP have a built in router. I had my ISP disable the NAT in the modem I got from them and it is now in bridge mode so that my own router handles the NAT and DHCP duties. By doing what orion says your NAS will be on a different logical network than the rest of your home. You can perhaps configure your router (I assume it is wi-fi) into an access point and use the others NAT and DHCP. Not knowing the detail of your situation I can't help more than that.

I brought my new router becuase my nas in my ISP modem(router) maked a conflic with my internet so it was on/off. When it's off I needed to restart my nas server before I get my internet back.

zakspop so you said I should disable my isp nat before I can use my new router to my nas?
And yes its got a build in router, but then I will get the above issues

I buyed this one: TP-LINK TL-WDR4300 N750

As I said, I can't help much more. Maybe use your router as an access point. It is difficult to walk someone blind through configuring their network. Time for google.
