downloads app central stopped working

downloads app central stopped working
Only two weeks into owning my 604, and I can't even install anything using App Central. The download bars just stand still, nothing happens.

But I just checked, proxying through Frankfurt, Germany didn't work either.
Another thing that's very wrong now:
When I try to manually upload/update, App Central gives a warning:
Unable to upload. File format is invalid for ADM 2.0. (Ref. 5041)
I have not updated to a beta ADM, I'm just on plain unaltered up to date ADM, yet *none* of the downloads from http://www.asustor.com/service/downloads?product_id=1 give me working files..

I run app central without problems.
From the anchor that you posted, it seems pointing to applications outside nas. For example, Backup Plan is an application for Windows and Mac. Those tools are not run on nas.
However, it sounds that you cannot download App in app central directly. That's a problem. I think it's better that you send a support request to asustor. They should be able to help you.
PS: it occurs to me that I encountered similar problem before. I got an advice to setup DNS (8.8.8.8) in network setting. It works for me. You may have a try.
