Connecting ASUSTOR to a MAC network (no internet) - no LAN

I realise that I have purchased the wrong machine for my needs. Consider myself a total dummy when formulating answers.

I've go an ASUSTOR NAS with 8 TB of storage. I want to use it primarily simply to store data and media.

I've got a Mac Mini with OSX Server, and I would like to connect the Mac Mini to the ASUSTOR. The Mac Mini is used as a Server and is connected to different external devices.

I've got a multitude of internet routers and extensions, and once I connect ASUSTOR via LAN, the internet connection goes systematically down.

However, I don't need the internet connection.

I am seeking advice how I can connect the ASUSTOR to the Mac Mini Server without interfering with anything else. The Mac Mini has a LAN input. If I use that, ASUSTOR AFP appears in Mac Finder, but it is not accessible when I click on it.

Is there any other way to connect the ASUSTOR to the Mac Mini? (USB, Firewire, anything)?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Plug both in to a switch. Enable NFS on asustor and grant Mac mini IP access

I can't speak specifically about OSX Server, but my MBP running Mavericks is able to connect to my 608T fine. I'm using a slice of my drive for TimeMachine backups and everything. I do have AFP enabled, but not broadcasting over Bonjour. Generally I connect to it via the samba shares I have for all my Windows PCs.

The connection should be network. USB/eSATA should be used for external devices, not host. AFP on my as-304t is working fine. Sounds that you can find nas in Finder. Did you try guest account to login? What's the step that you encountered error (login or access share or access directory)?

As soon as I connect the ASUSTOR via Ethernet it cancels the internet connection, like an IP address conflict. But I have no idea how to manually assign IP addresses, etc.

Just to walk through things clearly. You have your internet connection -> a Router -> Mac Mini
Or is your Internet/Router a single unit? If so then you definitely need something to split things. It almost sounds like you are connecting directly to your ISP who is only providing a single IP address.

Sounds like something isn't configured correctly. The asustor shouldn't bring your internet connection down. I run Macs and have not had any issues.

i don't understand why you need a multitude of routers and without a network diagram it's hard to understand what you are trying to do

... Well, it's better that you can take pictures of your router connection step-by-step. The nas connection port on router might be the wrong one.
