HDMI audio confusion

Hello,

I am currently looking at getting a new NAS that has a HDMI output. I have gone through quite a few posts in the forum, and there have been posts that suggest that due to some Intel driver incompatibility, HDMI audio passthrough does not work properly for anything other than stereo (i.e. 5.1, etc.) and this can only be solved by Intel.

On the other hand, I have also read posts suggesting that HDMI passthrough is available.

What I do intend to do is to set up in the following way:

NAS -> AV Receiver -> TV

Sounds that some people had verified Dolby and DTS 5.1 being working correctly.
