AS-302T from Germany

Post by fwhamm »

I just received my AS-302T with 2x 2TB WD RED RAID 1. I guess it will take some time to set it up with main settings, backup etc.

Especially because App Central and Website Downloads are down :-(

My AS-302T will serve mainly as media server in our living room. So far it's very calm :-) For backup I intend to setup backup via rsync and/or FTP to my QNAP TS-419p.

Hi Frank,

App Central seems to be down for a while now, very poor service an Asustor's part. :(
I also bought the same NAS as you for multimedia purposes in our livingroom.
Honostly though, with the downtime of App Central, I'm now wondering if I should have bought a Synology NAS instead.
If the downtime drags on much longer I might return the unit and do just that.

Still no reply from Asustor support :x

Goodluck!

Hi Maarten,

this is quite frustrating. I bought my AS-302T because it has good ratings in serveral testings. An outstanding point is it's HDMI connection "feeded" by XBMC. My QNAP-NAS is far too loud for the living room. But I will use it as backup server vor the Asustor.

One of the first things to do was to install XBMC from App Central... :-(

I know it's weekend and saturday evening over there but they sell their NASs worldwide. Honestly I don't understand that they obviously don't have a server monitoring bundled with emergency stand-by duty. This really might damage their reputation regardless how good their products might be. AFAIK a lot of their staff came from QNAP and QNAP had those problems too. They still are struggling against a negative co-noted reputation concerning support and firmware updates. So I don't understand that Asustor didn't staff their server infrastructure and support...

Regards,
Frank

Hi Frank, Maarten and Jim, we just found out there is some error in the Amazon server and now we have restarted the server. We checked the following:

- Asustor.com App Central
- Asustor.com download
- NAS App Central

All are working now.

We will review the reason for the Amazon server error and improve it. We may report our feedback to Amazon to study further the different possible causes. And also as indicated by you, we will try to prevent such mishaps again in the future with emergency information and redundant download points.

Once again, sorry for the inconvenience in the sudden stop of service!!!

I'm glad you could restart the services. I really appreciate your response and hope there will be some enhancement so such problems will be prevented in future.

Now I will continue to configure my new NAS starting with installing some apps :-)

Thank you very much!

Hi Shawn,

Thank you for resolving the issue. I can now install apps on my NAS, so far it's looking great.

Hopefully the servers will become more stable, downtime can be such a pain (especially for impatient folk like myself ;) )

Regards,

Maarten
