Re: FTP specific users without home directories
Do you mean that you want to create a user account but when the user login through ftp, he should not see his own home?
But for me, this is weird... Because everyone's home is only unique to himself and is not shared, not even to Admin. If I am the user, then I will feel very strange about it...

Re: FTP specific users without home directories
Hi,
I don't think it is that weird : the "FTP user" as I call it has no real access to the NAS but the FTP one so why should he have a home directory.
The idea is that the FTP is there to allow a distant user to connect and retrieve or push data into the ftp repository but not necessarily into a home directory.

note : when I say home directory I'm not talking about the root directory where the user is connected but the directory named "home" for this user.

Re: FTP specific users without home directories
I find this a BIG problem too.
If i want users to be able to upload, i will create a upload folder for this user instead. This way i can track/delete/do something with their uploads. Now any user can upload anything to the NAS, and i'm not aware of this. This user could abuse my internet connection to share/distribute anything with others and make me an accomplish to somthing i don't want!
So i would like to be able to "or" access their HOME folder "or" to create users without a HOME folder! <by using SSH i can, i know, but i would stil like FTP users NOT to have a HOME folder for their uploads>
Besides, it would be nice to assign a specific ROOT folder to such a user. This way i can create a "perfect" navigation on the FTP server for my users.
