AS6804T Ironwolf Disk compatibility

Post by kmmcd »

I am close to buying an AS6804T, and I am selecting suitable drives. Asustor data indicates that the Seagate ST8000VN004 (8TB) is a compatible disk. However, Amazon sells only a "ST8000VNZ04/N004" disk. Is the latter the same thing as the former, and is it compatible with the AS6804T?

thanks

The compatibility list only shows combinations that have been tested. Absence from the list only means it hasn't been tested in that NAS, not incompatibility. Also, it rarely gets updated for old drives in new NAS and new drives in old NAS. There seem to be several different sub-varieties of Ironwolf drive as the range evolves with time and I've no idea what the differences are. But it's hard to imagine how any SATA could be incompatible so I would just go with whatever Ironwolf you can find of your chosen capacity and be confident that it will work.
