Encode movies on the NAS

Post by kurukuru »

Hello ASUSTOR's engineers,

I want a NAS application which realize encoding movie files(avi, mpg, mov, etc...).
As you know, original movies(After recording) need a large disk space(~MB, ~GB).
So we encode original movies to save disk space.

For example, If I dropped some movie files to encoding application's window on the ASUSTOR ADM,
Encoding starts automatically by batch execution.
After I spend a few hours or sleeping, I get a new encoded small movie file, and I can save more disk space. :-)

ASUSTOR AS-604T has a very high performance(CPU, Mem),
so I think encoding movies is the best suited feature for AS-604T.

Please, discuss about this feature request.
I look forward to good result. :-)

Thanks.

I second this request for the current AS-6 series.

Obviously such a feature will be "built-in" with the coming AS-3 series because the INTEL platform being used there brings all the prerequesites even for recoding video streams on the fly.
