Newby with new Asustor AS6806T needing help

Post by SirSpendalot »

Hi Folks,
Just got my new AS6806T and dowloded the AiMaster and AiData on my phone and the Control Centre on my Apple Mac.
I looked at what it said in the help sections online but nowhere can I actuall find an area to register for an ID?
Both phone apps require me to login but I can't login until I register.
The options to Register are in the full Control centre which I can't login to because I can't register.

If I try and access the IP Address Firefox comes up and says not to go there as it is not secure.
Then there is a recommendation to Change port ID and something else.

Both phone apps ask for Host/IP or Cloud ID and I haven't a clue how to get those.

These apps said it was easy to set things up but it is really doing my head in. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,

Not an Apple user ... but

after initial phase using Web or ControlCenter
default value are :
port 8000 (http) and 8001 for https
admin password is admin (or what you choice in init phase)

Firefox is a little restrictive with http or not authorized ssl keys, use chrome or opera (without vpn)

if you lost what you do at init phase, do a short reset (3 sec.) by pressing the small contact in small hole.

when you are connected as admin ... in WebUI / control panel, you can register you in myasustor.com and also add a valid (let's encrypt) certificate for https (external access)

Philippe.
NB Asustor college web site can help you in all initial usage of your NAS
Asustor updated :D to ADM 5.0
FS6706T / AS3302Tv2 / AS5202T / AS6602T
Asustor E.O.L. at A.D.M. 4.0 :(
AS5002T / AS1002T
Asustor past

Did you buy one of the two AS6806T that Amazon UK had in stock? I see there's only one now. :D

Let's start with the IP address. If your router allows it, set up a static IP address for the NAS, outside the DHCP range. Typically routers use 192.168.1.xxx so use 192.168.1.254 for your NAS, adjusting the values according to what your router actually uses. You'll need one of the MAC addresses that are on the box or the label on the bottom of the NAS. Make sure you use the LAN port on the NAS that corresponds to the MAC address you've used. You now know the IP address if you insist on using a phone app.

If you now switch on the NAS and wait until it beeps it should appear as Un-initialised in ACC on the Mac. Clicking on Un-initialised should open the setup screen in your default browser. As Phillippe says, Firefox can be a bit of a PITA with http sites so switching to Safari might help. The bit about changing ports is advice only and can be ignored, at least for the moment.

Please let us know how you get on.

Had a QNAP 6 Bay Drive with two WD 12TB Enterprise Gold Drives in it. Only got it to work once to manually cop Data. Acouple of years went byand thefans stopped. Couldn,t get the QNAP support site to work and no way found to contact them so bought the ASUSTOR and find that one of the 12 TB drives powers up but not recognised. Called WD and they say warranty ran out 1.5 Years ago. Suggested I buy an external SATA to USB connector to see if the drive is recognised externally. Ordered that yesterday, tried it today and drive is not recognised. Read that not using drives con tinuously actually can prolong the life, so not overly impressed that an Enterprise drive didn't last! ;-(

If drives aren't powered on occasionally the heads can get stuck. It's worth giving one of the long edges a tap on a table to see if that frees it up.
