A very nice thing I discovered e. g. on Synology servers was a complete implementation of an eMail server.
Any similar thing available on Asustor series 6?
At the moment there is running an Axigen server directly on my notebook computer in order to archive older eMails but I really want to get rid of this installation - it would be great to have my mail archive available on a NAS device . . .

Hi there,
Thanks for the feedback, I personally like the idea of archive older eMail a lot.
We definitely will come out a solution for this.
Cheers,

It would be great if hmailserver could be compiled as an app, its a great full featured open source program and the source code is readily available on line, so I assume it would not be a major effort to create a new Asustor app?

Hi Dcullum,
I found the hmailserver for Microsoft Windows but not for Linux.
If the application doesn't support Linux, that will be a big issue.

Re: IMAP Server or even complete eMail server (POP/SMTP)
there are multiple options.
the first is a combination of e.g. xmail (+phpmxail), dovecot and roundcube as a complete combination. this works great imho. but xmail might need be replaced by a more modern solution (postfix).
The other option that might be interesting to investigate is zarafa (http://www.zarafa.com), this open source server application supports push-mail,agenda, contacts and an exchange like web interface. Use for a few accounts is free as far as i can recollect. It would need a custom webinterface for configuration though, as total configuration from commandline (adding mail users, e.g.) might be to difficult for most users.
