World Backup Day and World Cloud Security Day were recently celebrated. These commemorations help raise awareness of data security. ASUSTOR always advocates that backups comply with the 3-2-1 principle. It is advised to make regular backups and ADM is continuously updated to improve data security and backup features. ASUSTOR’s data security features help prevent data loss before needing to resort to restoring data from backups. The Automatic Blacklist can be used to block IPs that have failed to log in multiple times within a set period while ADM Defender also has a Trust List so that trusted IPs will not be automatically blocked if making too many mistakes. The blacklist and whitelist also can block suspicious IPs as well as a range for an entire geographic location.
The latest versions of ADM also include a risk list in ADM Defender to proactively prevent suspicious IPs from connecting to the NAS before they have a chance to be blocked or cause havoc. The risk list consults the database found at AbuseIPDB and adds the addresses to the risk list to effectively reduce attacks on your NAS. To take advantage of this feature, you must first register an account at AbuseIPDB and obtain an API key.
