File transfer very slow

Hi all,
I'm very new to NAS technology and have recently bought the asustor drivestor 2 as1102t. Sole purpose for streaming movies to media player. However file transfer to the NAS is painfully slow, no more than 5mbs. Hardwired to router through full fibre network. How can I increase the transfer speed please. Thank you.
