veracrypt backup to usb disk

Hello,

My main use case for a NAS is to store data and back them up periodically to a veracrypt-encrypted usb hard-disk (not a veracrypt container !) via rsync.

I understand ADM doesn't support veracrypt straight out of the box, however it has been mentioned previously that it's possible to load it and use it via the cli:

Can anyone confirm if this is possible and if I can achieve my objective this way?

In case it is not feasible, can I install it in Debian in Linux center and backup my NAS files to a USB hard drive (also via rsync) ?

Finally if this is also not possible, would it be possible to replace ADM by Debian altogether and install and install and use veracrypt the way I need to use it ?
