Seriously need a reverse proxy
Like the title says, we need a reverse proxy application. It would save some headaches. Something similar to synology.

Could not agree with you more.
But relying on the Asustor team "to get things going" will not help much.
They have done a decent job (many improvements remain) in maintaining a somewhat decent ADM OS.
If you are itching for a reverse proxy, like I am, you can use ADM's Portainer and Docker-ce apps to deploy your own Reverse Proxy like this one: https://hub.docker.com/_/traefik/
