That's would be a great functionnality.

I have found the source for CEC here : http://libcec.pulse-eight.com/ (https://github.com/Pulse-Eight/libcec).
If anyone knows how to compile it on Asustor...

I am pretty sure a lot of Asustor NAS owners would love to have this feature. Although this would hamper their current remote control sales (which in my opinion is pretty basic and not suitable on its own to control XBMC or Boxee, and another unnecessary addition to our existing pile of tv/receiver/cable/phone/tab remotes), but this feature would turn it into a more media centric NAS, integrated and compatible with our existing setup. I think Asustor's appeal compared to other existing NASes out there is the HDMI port and the OTB media functionality. Why not strengthen this?

+1. Would also love additional commands mappable over the IR (and/or support MS MCE remote)

This would be a great feature.

I bought the AS-202TE to replace my old Thecus NAS and Raspberry Pi running Raspbmc, which already supported CEC.

This NAS is great, a few issues with sound on the XBMC install on some files which I have yet to find a solution for. But once that is out of the way, I would definitely recommend to other people.

Yes, I fully vote for HDMI-CEC support however I have the Asustor IR controller already the convenience of turning XBMC on that turns on the TV and AVR as well with proper hdmi input line selected like I'm used to with my PS3 and DVR urges me to vote for 1000 times!

Question is, whether there is an hw support inside existing models and so whether it can be added just by ADM update...
Otherwise we would need to focus on Pulse-Eight USB to CEC adapter already mentioned.

This is a pretty old thread, but since you revived it: I have had CEC working on my AS-6 for ages, I created a release for both AS-2/3 and AS-6 series, go ahead and have a look if you're interested: [Unofficial] libCEC and Python CEC

PS. I don't think the hardware support CEC though, so you're stuck with the Pulse-Eight adapter.
