Boxee app on AS-304T / HD Audio

Like many in this forum I am now trying to make my final decision between AS-304T vs AS-604T units.

Q1: I hoped to replace my aging Boxee box with AS-304T unit but noticed that Boxee app is ONLY supported on AS-6** series and not the AS-304T unit. How come? 1.6Ghz clocked Berryville multimedia cpu inside the AS-304T unit is not powerful enough for Boxee software ? ( The original Boxee box only had 1.2 GHz Intel Atom CPU vs the latest Intel Atom CE5335 1.6Ghz cpu used in 304T unit.)

Q2: I've done the forum search and as of late Nov 2013 the DTS-HD audio was confirmed to be functioning in XBMC app. Is the other Dolby TrueHD sound format also supported in the latest XBMC 0.12.3.r* app when running on AS-304T?

Q3: Going back to HD sound formats: DTS-HD & Dolby TrueHD - Does the Boxee app support both of those HD Sound formats on any of the Asustor boxes?

Hi svt02,

1. Boxee is not supported on the 3 series devices due to issues with the Intel drivers.

2. Currently, Dolby TrueHD is not supported for XBMC.

3. Boxee only supports DTS and Dolby Surround Sound on ASUSTOR NAS devices.

I have the AS-608T and run XBMC. I have no problems with DTS HD/MA whatsoever. My setup is in my signature.

I can confirm that the Dolby TrueHD doesn't work at all on AS-304T. I cannot even play any of my mkv rips or any other file format smoothly at the moment on my 1 day old AS-304T setup, even with normal 5.1 sound. The sound is coming out choppy and out of sync. Have the latest:

Bios ver. 0.25/ 1.0023
ADM build 2.1.1.R3B2
XBMC 0.12.3.r08 from March 14

I also noticed some background CPU load coming from the following:
md1_resync =24% CPU load
md1_raid5=12.2% CPU load
convert = 68% CPU load ( intermediate)

I can only assume that this is a Storage manager trying to sync/ shuffle the data across RAID 5 since it is only 1 day old setup.

I did enable the Media Mode under Settings/General, but it didn't help my playback at all, at least not at the moment.

What can I do now?

My Yamaha rx-v661 can play all 1080p movie with 5.1 and 7.1 Dolby or dts though.
