Chromecast support

How's about to support Chromecast in any way?

There seems to be no video app to do the Chromecast, right? I mean the NAS is connected directly through HDMI to TC already...

Ya that's true but my NAS isn't in my living room...that's why I'm asking...chromecast seems to be the easiest way to get connected.

can you get chromecast in switzerland? i don't think i can here in uk. I use a sony bdp5370 for playback on my tv works a treat. was going to look at one of those little android hdmi units as well for other stuff.

There is another way: a TV supports uPnP player. Then you can surf your contents in nas.

I also want to vote for the Chromecast support. The synology dsm 5 beta supports this feture, pls make it possible

The Chromecast is so cheap so it is definitely a good solution. However, the current Asustor mobile app are not suitable for Chromecast, Aidata, Airemote, Aidownload, Aimaster, Aimusic. Maybe Aimusic can stream to Chromecast? There should be some video app in Adm and corresponding mobile app to do it.

There is no need for this feature. The chromecast will not support all of the video formats that the NAS and XBMC combo support. I had a Synology and tried every device I could get my hands on. None could do what I wanted. The best luck I had was with my Sony BD player. However it couldn't cope with some of the files. The Chromecast is just a smaller, cheaper Roku etc.. I doubt it can do any better than any of the other video streaming devices. Hell, the Roku has a Synology app but it wasn't able to play half of my videos. And actually I'm not sure how you even mean that the NAS should support the Chromecast. It is the other way round. The Chromecast should support the NAS. Maybe Chromecast will get a Plex app.

Just install the Plex app on Asustor. The install the Plex app on your smartphone. Done.
