Really Like the 604T

Post by ammcbride »

I recently purchased the 604T which is an upgrade from my QNap tS110. I am glad I purchased the Asustor instead of purchasing a QNAP. This device is so easy to set up. I was so impressed with how the surveillance center detected my cameras. Asustor has it all over Qnap. My only issue so far is getting this to sync with a usb drive. It seems to only want to perform a backup at a particular time instead of immediate sync. Once word gets out on this brand, it should dominate the competition. If anyone is debating purchasing one, go for it!

There is a default APP: Backup & Restore that can do scheduling or immediate backup to USB / eSATA devices. ;)

I am using this app. It would be nice if this app had a sync or replication feature versus a timed backup.

Do you mean "incremental" (backup only modified) and "non-incremental" (whole copy) backup? There is an option in the dialog box. The default is whole backukp, i.e., incremental backup: unchecked.

Will, my old QNAP allowed you to do an immediate replication almost like a raid1. This software allows you to do an incremental, or scheduled but it won't automatically and immediately replicate data to a usb drive on its own.

mm... You should mean the really old one. That should actually do RAID-1 which means the USB disk size should be the same, right? However, auto-rsync a good feature (no raid-1 constraint) and I will like to use it.

Correct, auto resync automatically. That would be a good feature to add to this applicaiton.
