On the old ReadyNas Duo, you could set up centralised backup jobs that copied files directly from Windows Shares onto the NAS, by supplying the path to the windows share and user credentials.
This meant you didn't require any jobs scheduled on disparate windows desktops or any specific users logged in, and no specific software like rsync server or ftp server on the desktops.
By using the default admin shares you don't even need to create new folders shares on the desktops.
Please add this functionality to the Asustor backup app.
