Im kinda regreting my purchase of the 302t... the lack of support is ridiciolous
I bought this box to install a .zip addon with tv stream in xbmc, and it wont play the damn stream... but my friends synology can do it just fine..
I might sell my asustor and go with synology..
As far as the addon, is this a 3rd party addon? if so, then does this addon specify what dependencies are required? it might be a simple fix to get this working...
So, where do you get it from and how do you install it?
it appears the link you have given just downloads a web page? Presumably when installed as a plugin this just allows you to stream?
I have said in a few forums previously that people need to stop comparing to Synology... Synology are by no means error free and from what I have seen are less user friendly for new users (linux noobs). They have a number of issues, just like many device manufacturers, including Asustor... one difference is that Synology have been around for longer and therefore have some more Apps and a larger community base... But the Asustor community is definitely growing and the Asustor team are quick to respond to actual problems with systems and Apps...
3rd party addons are always going to be problematic if you are the first person to try installing. The reality is the Portal and XBMC (for 6 series) has only been availabe for a few weeks, so most of us are figuring things out and it may be a while before all the little issues are ironed out.
Also, those synology devices that support XBMC over HDMI are more expensive than Asustor, so again, not a fair comparison...

Its from a danish forum, this xbmc addon allows me to watch free cable tv.. i install from zip file in xbmc, when it is installed, i go and open it, select a channel and then the loading screen appears for 5sec and it stops then takes me back to the menu i came from..
I bet its a simple fix, but im a linux noob..
also the iptv pvr plugin wont work for some reason
HI,
@clinton.hall, I disagree with you when you say :
I personally have found the support to be good.
It used to be good up to about 6-7 months ago when the the first beta version of ADM2.0 was released and some expected features (said by the asustor team to be available in ADM2.0) were nowhere to be found.
Since then, support has been disappointing to say the least. It has even become nonexistent for some topics.
I'm also more and more regretting buying an asustor : features that synology offers and that were requested by some users have been completely disregarded compared to features that were for most not requested and sometimes even not even useful...
If I recall other posts, the AS3 series are 32bit and the AS6 are 64bit. This might explain why the addon works for Caktuz but not BadAS302T. Clinton could probably confirm better than I my assumption here.

I was referring more to the support when you raise a support ticket. The forums themselves are not always responded to the quickest by Asustor, but are here for community support...
The question I would ask is if Synology are so great, why do I end up fixing so much of their $&@# in other forums (couchpota.to etc) ? I have never owned a Synology, so trying to support them is not easy... And I am not here saying Synology are Bad and Asustor are Great... I am saying all NAS brands have their issues, but my experience with Asustor to date has been good.

Yes, this is correct.
My 302T is currently off out in my shed... I'll try and power it up this weekend and see if I can test/debug something...
