re-establishing permissions for shared files

Hello, I'm new to the community. I have only maintained a limited use of my Asustor S3304T, mainly file video file storage. I have enjoyed the use of this NAS for my home network. I have noticed recently, that if I add new video files to these folders, the devices that already originally had permissions to R/W don't have access to the files at all until I go back into the control center>File Explorer and resave, permissions and NFS access. I've had my NAS for roughly 3 years and only recently have I had to start doing this. It's become quite the annoyance and am wondering if anyone else has experienced this and how did you fix it, or does anyone just know how to fix it?
