Beeping on Lockerstor Gen 2 AS6702

Post by Smyveee »

Hi all, every now then once every couple of months or so my NAS starts to beep once every 5 seconds and wont stop until I shut it down for a couple of minutes, and then when I turn it back on all is well. I can still access the NAS while the beeping is occurring and everything seems to be ok. There are no hdd errors and no logs to suggest what the issue is.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

What HDDs and SSDs do you have installed?
Have you logged on to the GUI while the NAS is beeping? If so, were there no red flags against any of the desktop icons?

Hi there, I have 2 wd nvme red's @256gb in a raid 1 config these are the main boot drives. I have 2 wd nvme red @500gb in a raid 1 config for cache. I then have 2 Seagate Ironwolf 20tb in a raid 1 config. To be honest I haven't tried logging onto the GUI whilst the beeping is happening, I normally just shut it down for 5 mins or so and then power it back on. But whilst the beeping is happening everything seems to still work fine, i.e. Emby, and the Asustor apps on my phone which is generally how I shut it down stuff. Do you think it could be software or hardware related? I have also run the Dr Asustor app and that also come back clear.

Thank you for your reply and hopefully you might have some ideas what it could be.

Kind regards.

To be honest, I don't know what it might be although beeping is usually a hardware problem. Looking at your drive sizes, the only thing I can think of is that you might be getting low on space on Volume 1. All the apps and their data are stored there and there are some folders, like the User Homes, that cannot be moved to Volume 2. That's why logging on to the GUI while it's beeping is the best chance of finding what's causing it although a quick look at the volume sizes in Storage Manager might be helpful.

I have plenty of space on both Volume 1 & 2, 165gb on volume 1 & 8.5tb on volume 2. I will keep an eye on it and log into the GUI when the beeping starts again to see if highlights anything. Might raise a ticket with Asustor too and see if they can suggest anything.

Thanks again for reaching out it is much appreciated.

Kind regards.
