ASUSTOR NAS devices are not only powerful but also employ energy-efficient design. With low power consumption and intelligent energy-saving features, allows easy management of both NAS and hard drives. ASUSTOR is the world's first NAS to support S3 sleep mode. When not in use, the NAS can enter sleep mode, saving power and extending the device's lifespan—a win-win situation.
The first step is to go to Settings > Hardware > Energy Control to set up sleep mode. You can choose to have your NAS automatically sleep in 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes, or 120 minutes or specify sleep hours, such as 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. After setup, you can activate sleep mode through the ADM desktop, ASUSTOR Control Center, ASUSTOR Portal, or on the AiMaster mobile app.

To wake up a NAS in sleep mode, you can use Wake on LAN and Wake on WAN. Wake on LAN allows users to wake up a sleeping or powered-off NAS within the same network, while Wake On WAN lets users remotely wake up the NAS over the internet. By using ASUSTOR mobile apps like AiMaster, AiFoto 3, AiMusic or ASUSTOR EZ Connect, you can quickly wake up the NAS via WOL or WOW, enabling fast data access. This approach helps avoid high power costs from keeping the NAS on for extended periods and reduces the risk of hacking, offering a more flexible access and secure experience.
