Hello!
Now that I have successfully set up my new AS7110T, I realized that (based on my current level of knowledge) a local monitor doesn't seem to be possible!!!
Since the device doesn't have an HDMI interface (which I knew), my plan would be to set up a local display via a USB adapter (to VGA, HDMI, etc.).
Unfortunately so far unsuccessful as I can't get a picture on the monitor.
(For example, I want to get into the BIOS settings at boot time)!!
Maybe one of you has a tip or even a solution...^^.
Best thanks in advance!
Josef

Re: Local monitor on AS7110T - what is needed....
Don't think it's possible even for pre-boot because the UEFI/BIOS expects an internal display output or at least a PCI display which to begin with needs to be set as the primary in the UEFI/BIOS.
It's similar to a PC, during pre-boot or UEFI/BIOS, only the internal video or external GPU (auto or if set in bios) has the output. Multi monitors including USB video (if kernel and OS supports) doesn't get initialized at this stage.

Re: Local monitor on AS7110T - what is needed....
Thanks for the reply.
I understand that the BIOS screen can only be accessed via MB GPU, graphics card, etc....
However, I had/have hope that there is a quasi internal trick (e.g. a connection to the MB that is not routed to the outside, etc.).
I think the Asus people must also be able to work on the BIOS or work/test on a 'real' local display.
For the AS6704T with an HDMI connection, there is - as described several times - the possibility of installing an alternative OS (e.g. Truenas scale).
I would like to see/try out exactly that on the 7110 (I've already had Truenas core on a self-built NAS in the past).
let's see... maybe something else will come....

NP.
I don't have your model but looking at ADM, how it works and experience with my model with even running Windows 10, I believe it's possible to run alternative OS but it requires some work like replacing the DOM or at least its GPT contents. Most importantly a way to recover if the mod fails like using a Live USB (if it can boot via USB) or TFTP (common for headless) or last resort UART (even if there's any).

Re: Local monitor on AS7110T - what is needed....
Exactly... but as a first step I have to put the BIOS on a screen for configuration purposes.
Then comes the real work (disabling eMMC, setting boot order, etc.).
