IAmusic, USB DAC and 24bit/96khz.

Two days ago I contacted the Asustor support regarding the above.
I must say it's a very dedicated support and I got me some clearification about what is going to happen in the future.
Thought I would share this here

I’ll answer the questions below:

Q1) Will the Aimusic be able to "control" the dac like the soundsgood app?

Yes, We do have plan for AiMusic to support using DAC to play music just like Soundsgood did.

But this feature is still under construction, so we will release AiMusic to play music on your smartphone or tablet first.



Q2) Are usb sound 2.0 supported and will it handle 24bit/96khz without transcoding

About usb sound 2.0, may I know if you mean usb sound cards like this one?

If yes, we support USB 2.0 sound cards.



For supports 24bit/96khz without transcoding

After some tests, we confirmed that 24bit music is not yet supported, we’ll study how to implement this in the future.

Transcoding is depends on the sample rate supported by the DAC or USB sound card you connected.

If they don’t support 96KHz, NAS will do SRC(Sample Rate Coonveter)

If they supports 96 KHz, NAS will play the music directly.

What is Ai or iA music?

Aimusic is a music player for android and iphone allowing you to stream music and radio to your phone. Later on it will work as a remote allowing you to stream music through a dac or amplifier with an usb input. Support told me it will be released in a couple of months.
