A newbie here with an initial issue

Post by JoseHawk »

Hello,

My name is Jose and I a newcomer in the NAS world

I am having an issue trying to add a new volume, I will try to explain it in the best way:

I have two SSD disks as Volume 1 in Raid 1, where I have the operating system installed.

Using a 16TB SSD, I created an archive with a Btrfs filesystem, which is what I read recommended.

I need to expand and have another solid disk (ideally independent of the previous one, since it will have other uses, permissions, etc.). I have tried up to 3 hard drives (all new), but the console does not recognize them, even though the LEDs in the bays light up.

I have also tried inserting it into different bays, but the result is the same.

The capacity of the hard drives and the brand are exactly the same, with the only difference that the old hard drive has the previous model (NE) and the new ones have the most recent one (NT), since it is the one currently sold. .

I am attaching screenshots of everything I say.

Thank you so much.

Have you tried removing the MyArchive disk before adding one of the new disks? I don't know if it will make any difference but it's part of the fault-finding procedure.

It's not clear, so you're saying you have 3 SSDs, only one is showing (per your 3rd screenshot) not the other two?
AS5304T - 16GB DDR4 - ADM-OS modded on 2GB RAM
Internal:
- 4x10TB Toshiba RAID10 Ext4-Journal=Off
External 5 Bay USB3:
- 4x2TB Seagate modded RAID0 Btrfs-Compression
- 480GB Intel SSD for modded dm-cache (initramfs auto update patch) and Apps

No, I have 2 SSD (these are just for OS) and an additional solid disk (IronWolf Pro - 16TB). Now I need to add another solid disk more

Have you tried the 3rd and 4th bay? Without looking at the syslogs it's hard to tell if those 3 disks got detected even if the LED lights up. Suggest you contact Asustor support so they can review the log.

Yeah, I also tried the other slots and still the same.
I double checked in the compatibility list and it is supposed to be compatible as well.
Is there any other way to check the disks, formating them, etc?

Does it work in a PC or USB enclosure? SSH into the NAS and check its dmesg.
