Newbie - please help

Hi, I just installed this nimbus4 with the help of a good friend and find that there is so much to know as I find it hard to utilise.
Thanks in advance for your kind support whoever you are.

DO I need to map folders in order to make them available via the internet or not? How does this machine work actually fir a small user that wishes to free up the laptop and have pictures available to and from workplace?- do we have hacking protection?
I do not to backup files just need to have them on the nimbus. DO I just copy them over and that is it?
