AS-302T

Post by Azrail »

Having fun with the 2 bay NAS. Using to back up my computers and servers. Also to educate myself on the use of WordPress. And MySql.
When I got it it had no hard drives so I added a spare 2 TB drive I had hanging about. All good. Now I want to add a second drive. I need sign posting to what this involves. Don't want to add a load of obvious questions here, so could someone signpost me to a detailed novice guide to doing this. I had a go, but just ended up with the NAS flashing green then red for an hour. Assumed this meant it wanted something else other than turning off and bunging in another drive. I added a 1 TB drive that is healthy. Also tried not turning off and adding drive, no joy. Pulled the drive out and all is back to normal.
New to NAS, but not to Linux, LAMP servers and data management.

Nothing special about adding new drives, put them in, for non-raid, create a new volume in the Storage Manager then finally create new shares in the Access Control.

The "healthy" drive might contain existing partition layout which ADM doesn't support.

Describe what did you noticed here, post some screenshots of the Storage Manager and the system logs.

Internal:
- 4x10TB Toshiba RAID10 Ext4-Journal=Off
External 5 Bay USB3:

Thanks so much for the quick reply. I'll check through the system log files and see what I can find. I looked at messages in /var/logs/ but couldn't see anything useful there. Will search for more system log files and report back.
Cheers
