【Newsletter#206】Using SMB to Back Up your Data

Use SMB Backup to back up data to and from your NAS. SMB Backups service to back up data to and from ASUSTOR NAS.
Your ASUSTOR NAS comes with SMB enabled by default as it is the most common protocol used for transferring data to and from your NAS. It can be enabled in Services if disabled.

Before setting up SMB Backup, you may need to set up shared folders
• Click [Access Control] -> [Shared Folders].
• Click [Add].

• Add a new shared folder on the NAS. Name the folder and click [Next].

• Edit permissions.
• Click [Next].

• Click [Finish] after checking and confirming the settings.

After selecting or setting up a new shared folder for your SMB backup, head to Backup and Restore to set up a new backup job with SMB Backup.
