Hello All,
My name is Tony, I'm from the Philly, Pa area. I ordered a Asustor AS5402T 2 Bay NAS this evening along with a memory upgrade and 4 512GB Nvme drives. I have an older Qnap TS 251 that is getting long in the tooth (like me) and was looking to setup the nvme m.2 drive 1 & 2 as raid and initialize the NAS there with the OS prior to installing HDD's in the drive bays. Can someone tell me if that's possible? Or does there need to be an HD in one of the drive bays to initialize? I was then going to use nvme #3 to migrate as much as I can off of the Qnap and pull the 250 GB ssd out of the Qnap and install it into the Asustor.
Thank you for any advice / suggestions you may have,
Tony

Re: Newbie
Yes it's possible and normal to use the NVMes as volume1 even without any HDDs, the wizard will prompt even if you have HDDs present. Note that ADM will still have the 2GB OS mirrored (RAID1/volume0) to every NVMes/HDDs.
