I have large uncompressed AVI video files (250 Gb for example) and we need to stream to the local GiGE LAN. What combo of software on the NAS and software on any client(s) will do this?

I do not have the staggering avi file in hand (single file at 250gb? how to get an uncompressed video easily? ) so can not try.
But I guess you should be able to use VLC (install in your PC or notebook) to play the file through samba (make a network drive) and see if it works since you will play it in Lan.
