Re: Boot from USB
I have not seen a NAS designed with booting from other devices. I own Asustor NAS for quite a few months already and I feel it is stable and equips with the major functions I need. And even with the extra HDMI to play back 1080p movie and music which I am fond of. The firmware and new features update are also quite fast.
If you have some features that you hope to have but not yet available, maybe you can write to Asustor for the feature request though.

Re: Boot from USB
There is nothing stopping you installing software that you wish to compile yourself and put on the box, If you need all those other features why did you get asustor?
If you want that sort of flexibility you are probably better off building a full linux server based on slackware / ubuntu or debian to get the freedom and flexibility you require.
I like the asustor as a nas and the few apps that are bolted on make nice additions and in the main it is pretty stable, it is not a great server but it is great network attached storage.

I chose ASUSTOR because I am a fan of ASUS.ho66es wrote:There is nothing stopping you installing software that you wish to compile yourself and put on the box, If you need all those other features why did you get asustor?
Why is a problem if I want to boot from other device ? I don't want to modify ADM.
