Hi
People who wants to use NFS share with an encrypted volume will have a tough time against ADM configuration.
This is just not possible : http://support.asustor.com/index.php?/D ... 4-or-later
Ok, this is not possible but
- NOT A WORD here : http://download.asustor.com/college/en/ ... _Linux.pdf
- NOT A WORD in ADM : you can freely configure everything on ADM and on your client machine, get the right response from "showmount", until you try the NFS mount and get "mount.nfs: access denied by server"
Is this the way asustor will give confidence to their customers ?
communicate about no NFS share for encrypted volume

Re: communicate about no NFS share for encrypted volume
Hi sksbir,
Indeed, our current encrypted share folder (which is using eCryptfs) cannot be mounted via NFS. Sorry for not updating it to our documentations. We will revise the documents and block encrypted share folders from the NFS settings screen. Thank you.

Thank's for your response.
Has a workaround, I suggest you to try and explain in detail how to use webdav, and davfs2 on linux client side ( : davfs2 seems to be a nice feature, but configuration seems to be tricky, specially with self signed certs, and it's not so easy to retrieve the proper configuration from the NAS and put it on linux side.

Re: communicate about no NFS share for encrypted volume
Hi sksbir,
Our college documents are made into web version now. The NFS mount limitation on encrypted share folders has been updated, please check: http://www.asustor.com/online/College_t ... &lan=en#23
However, this college already described the WebDav usage on Linux client. Would you please let us know which part is not clear here? Thank you.

The way it is explained in your college is clear, and already used by me, but like samba of ftp mount, it relies on gnome or Kde file explorer, and is limited to the user environment.Vincent.T@AST wrote:However, this college already described the WebDav usage on Linux client. The way NFS share is mounted is system wide ( and by the way, you must be root and use line command to achieve that ). davfs offers the same way than NFS ( I mean: using mount command ) but with webdab.
One more word about ssh mount : you should add a note to say that only admin can do that, although this limitation is perhaps more known from customers.....
