Ok, we are now over a month behind on the updates with NetData, since we have had basically one in the time it's been available to us through App Central. There have been a whole slug of new features, and more refined features included in the app since the last update, including about 4 or 5 I have personally requested from the main developer.
So can we get this updated, to include a log file rotate, similar to how other applications do? (Where when it hits a certain size, it renames the old file, creates a new and only keeps say the last 4 or 5 most recent files?)
I have a ticket in the system right now over the size of the log file. When I created ticket #10940 the logs were 135MB for the Access Log and 139MB for the Error.log. These logs are now 229MB and 288MB respectively. This is absolutely insane that these files should be so large, and not cleaned up. The original application developer has already implemented a log rotation script, but it won't run with the version of the app from App Central.
Can someone please update this application, and get us something that doesn't tie up the drives this badly?
NetData updates???

Re: NetData updates???
Yeah, just tried to install this after modifying the netdata-installer.sh file to point to the right directories and get a bunch of errors. So this is going to have to come from someone at Asustor to get it working with the latest patches.
Are you ready to hear this, though? I have a fully working version running on BOTH of my Asus RT-AC66U routers, and they are linked on the same page. I open one page and both show up there, side-by-side. Now if I can get this running on a router, I should be able to get it running on a NAS, right? Yep, not going to happen....

So we need to get this updated, and need to make sure it statys updated, at least for a while. It might not be a bad idea if it were installed to a more traditional directory structure, too? As the convoluted AppCentral directories throws off any kind of git commands that normally would work.
In other words, why doesn't Asustor follow the standards Linux has used for app installs in like forever?

Found autotools .

autotools 2.60 or later is required
Sorry, you do not seem to have autotools 2.60 or later, which is
required to build from the git sources of netdata.
You can either install a suitable version of autotools and automake
or download a netdata package which does not have these dependencies.
Source packages where autotools have already been run are available
here:
https://firehol.org/download/netdata/
The unsigned/master folder tracks the head of the git tree and released
packages are also available. In other words, why doesn't Asustor follow the standards Linux has used for app installs in like forever?
