I was wondering: since we are now able to stream games from a gaming pc running steam, to any other supported device that has steam installed, wouldn't it be great if there was a steam app for the Asustor?!
I own a 602t that is hooked up to my tv but also my gaming pc is hooked up with a very long hdmi cable.
It would be great if we could have our pc sit anywhere and stream our games with just the asustor.
Steam supports linux based devices so I think the possibility is there, I just don't know the technical side of how this works
So, let me know if you guys think the same and maybe it's a nice feature for the future!
This is an excellent idea, one that I am very interested in implementing. Additionally, they would need to add support for USB controllers to really make it worthwhile and viable as a Steam streaming target. I have thought about trying to grab the steam linux files and forcing an install but my expertise in this area may not be up to par. If I do manage to get it going I will post here with an update.
Won't happen. Steam is built and controlled by Valve. You would have more luck contacting them but I doubt they would be interested in developing for such a small community.
Was about to post something about this, but used the search function first...
This is my first NAS and I had a similar thought when I noticed the Steam streaming feature, isn't there a way to install steam on the NAS and then launch it manually? Or is there protections in place that mean any interactions with the NAS have to be done via an app or similar?
Sorry if this is a stupid question; I'm still getting to grips with things!
