SFTP for as regular service

Post by rpnas »

In a Sony Xperia phone you can only mount remote share using SFTP (well windows share as well, but thats not an option). I assume it would be quite easy to open upthe acl for that?

in meantime you can use ES File Explorer File Manager to mount shares. For remotely mounting with security I login with openvpn to the nas and then use es file explorer (or any other app to access nas).

Don't wan't to have a lot of services on and the fact that the directories are listed when you use cifs/samba, security risk!

Please excuse my ignorance but I assume the passwords are sent in cleartext using cifs/samba?

no idea, but as I only connect to samba shares over vpn I would have assumed it is all encrypted (I know assuming is not good).

And I do appreciate the brainstorming, and the optional solutions, will definitely try and see what kind of throughput I'll get :)

Will check if cifs/samba is encrypted password.
