Hi Charlie,

Thanks for the suggestion! Yes, it is highly feasible to record the wake-up log. I have already feedback to our development team and they will schedule to implement it asap!

Hello Shawn.S@AST,

Could you also save the time of disks going to standby in memory somewhere? You could then create two entries in the log when the disks are woken; one for the time the disks went to sleep and one for the time the disks woke up.

Best regards,
Kapitein Haak.

Would also support this function as my HDDs seem not to enter hibernate mode anymore (since last ADM update) and I can't explain why as no processes appear to be active and no HDD access should happen by external sources. So I would welcome an option to log HD Hibernate Mode within system memory.

hi Kapitein and Bethral,

We have already implemented logging such as the following in ADM 2.5.4.

And we have been thinking about your suggestion all the time but the logging will easily jam the memory which is very dangerous for system.

We are now working on certain diagnosing tool which can help diagnose what service or process is in use which might prevent system from going to sleep. We hope to provide this tool as soon as we can.

Greetings,

Thanks for your patience. We are now testing the beta version of the diagnostic tool. The tool will show all of processes that access HDDs during certain period. You can then decide if you want to stop those processes to prevent constant disk activity.

The tool is embedded into ADM (under Settings -> Hardware -> Energy Control -> Diagnostic Tool). If you are interested to test this beta ADM version, we are happy to provide a link for download. Please leave your model name here.

NOTE: It's a beta version. So, please backup your data first.

Thanks.

Dear Shawn and John,

since update to 2.6.1 I cannot see any log about disk hibernation. Was this feature removed on this version?

On 2.6.0 disk hibernation started to work again on my NAS, and log was being generated. But now I can't tell if disk hibernation is working without being in front of the equipment, and so far I didn't had the time to check physically whether it's working. Using the diagnostic tool, it didn't show up any process using the disks: "No processes that continually access hard disks were detected."

I confirmed that disk hibernation is working, but no log about it is being generated on 2.6.1 version. Is this a bug or feature?

Hi Xyk0,
That's not a bug. We disable the log and we provide a more advanced tool instead. You can monitor which processes are accessing disks during certain period. You can check the function under ADM web page -> Settings -> Hardware -> Energy Control -> Diagnostic tool.

Is there a way to enable this log again? I liked the diagnostic tool, but it's only useful for a specific debug. The log helped to check whether disk hibernation was working during all day.

A suggestion is to insert an option under log preferences to toggle this kind of logging on or off.

Thanks for the suggestion. We'll feed it back to our team.
