Western Digital Red NASWARE 2.0

Post by theretiredpro »

Theres a special note on the Asustor hard drive comparability page for Western Digital Red 4tb implying it is only compatible with AS-6xx. I'm surprised the 3xx and 2xx series are not listed as compatible as they are newer released models and can handle other 4tb drives. I know that the new Western Digital Red 4tb drives come with built in software called NASWARE 2.0 while the previous 1tb, 2tb, and 3tb drives are NASWARE 1.0. Is this the issue?

I own an AS-304t and plan on purchasing multiple Western Digital Red 3tb drives soon but want to make sure that NASWARE 2.0 is not a problem as I've read that all Red drives manufactured after August will have it built in.

Hi theretiredpro, thanks for bringing this up!!! For the new production of As-3 and AS-2 series, the bios is updated so all can support WD 4TB red drive. And for the current AS-3 user, we will provide a patch to update the NAS to support 4TB WD red drive also!!! We will provide more information in our website later.

In the disk compatible list https://www.asustor.com/en/service/hd?s ... ze=&class=, NAS supports many WD 3TB models. What's your disk model? From your message, IDENTIFY command failed. That's quite rare.

Oops, the disk is in the list. I think you should report it to asustor. http://support.asustor.com/
