Can a folder with Blu-Ray disk content be played on XBMC or Boxee? I could go into the STREAM and find the biggest one to play, but this is a hassle.
Also not sure how to play 3D content - STREAM has a subdir SSIF with the parallel file. Obviously, when you select a file in STREAM it will not connect SSIF for 3D playback.
Does Boxee or XBMC on Asustor support 3D playback? Is HDMI interface fully supportive of that as well?

Re: Play Blu-Ray Disk copy on XBMC or Boxee?
i can play the main .m2ts movie file on boxee
which is not helpful if the movie is splitted into several .m2ts files,
often the case if there are different versions on that blu-ray like director's cut etc.
or you wanna watch the bonus content.
if you store your blu-rays in .iso files like i do you need to unpack them to access those .m2ts files,
mounting the .iso did not work with boxee ...
3D blu-rays do have a differrent file structure thus they need to be stored as .iso always because the
content is inside the SSIF folder and the stream folder is just a mirror,
so my guess is boxee can't handle them since he can't handle mounted .iso ...
not sure what xbmc can do since i am on 608,
but anyway i would recommend a media player that can handle all .iso like Dune or Fantec,
even though boxee plays .m2ts the output is quite poor due to our hardware,
remember it is a storage device, not a media player...

Re: Play Blu-Ray Disk copy on XBMC or Boxee?
Thank you a lot for a comprehensive response! This is very helpful!
You mentioned that "output is quite poor". Could you, please, elaborate on this? I currently use Sony network player I bought for $80 or so, and it handles m2ts quite nicely (maybe I miss here something).
Also, you mentioned that "mounting the .iso did not work with boxee ...". So, you did manage to mount but Boxee could not pick it up and play?
Well ... the sole reason I got interested in this device is due to its appealing combination of storage plus processing. The players lack disc capacity and the classic NAS cannot play. So, this seemed to be the optimal combination for me...yogi wrote:even though boxee plays .m2ts the output is quite poor due to our hardware,

Re: Play Blu-Ray Disk copy on XBMC or Boxee?
Thank you! Let me clarify. This week I downloaded the latest XBMC for Windows and it was able to play Blu-Ray ISO. The reference of the supported formats provided above is incomplete, i.e. does not outline containers like ISO or the Blu-Ray ISO is not supported in Asustor version of XBMC?Allen@AST wrote:Hi almaz,

Re: Play Blu-Ray Disk copy on XBMC or Boxee?
Can you, please, help me understand how exactly I could play 3D content? I am hearing that ISO is a requirement for 3D content and at the same time that ISO cannot be played at this moment neither by Boxee nor by XBMC...Allen@AST wrote: Yes, we support the playback of Blu-Ray content and 3D content as well. Re: Play Blu-Ray Disk copy on XBMC or Boxee?
Hi almaz,
3D content can be played via MKV files. I have attached a photo of what 3D content will look like while being played with the NAS.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Thanks,
Allen

allen, your display shows a SBS encode, almaz is talking about a bd rip.
both could be .mkv file format, but complete different stuff ...
