NAS died, possible to buy new NAS and recover files?

Post by kelben »

Ì have a AS-604T 4 bay NAS that just died on me, as I was moving it and plugging in again it booted up and then short circuit... like a poof sound within and its dead now. Most likely Power supply dead.

If I buy a new Asustor 4 bay Nas, is there a chance I can just put my disks inside it and I will get my files back? I believe I had set it up in raid 5.

Any tips are welcome

Have a great day!

Cheers

Yes, simply put all disks into the new asustor NAS, then power it on. Your data should be ready for you. (if all disks are all right without damages.) However you should check AppCentral when the new NAS is ready. You might need to re-install apps.
