Reconfigure RAID without offloading data

Post by idlemind »

Hello,

I have a 6210 with 10*3TB in a RAID5. I am at about 56% usage. I purchased 8*10TB drives would like to use (bay 9) as a hot spare and slot (bay 10) for an SSD cache. Is there a way to go from 10 drives to 8 +1 + cache without off loading my data(or losing it)

Thanks

As far as I know, you cannot do that. You'll need to backup your data externally, then re-configure your RAID volume.
