Hello,
I have a shared 200gb shared ISCSI LUN device over the network that is attached to a hyper-v virtual machine which hosts svn server... I don'have anymore space on that drive and I'd like to expand it using the adm tools. Is there any guide on how to proceed safely since the data inside is very important?
My plan is to:
1. Detach the drive.
2. Make a LUN snapshot (I suppose 200gb will take some time to do so)
3. Expand it to 1tb
4. Attach the now bigger drive again
Am I thinking straight?

That's right. I can actually do snapshot when LUN is still mounted. But it's much safer to do snapshot when umounted.

Thanks! Is there calculator or estimated time on how long will the snapshot take to do so? There are a lot of little files nurking in there....orion wrote:That's right. I can actually do snapshot when LUN is still mounted. But it's much safer to do snapshot when umounted.

I actually do not use iSCSI LUN. I just tried it before.
Based on my understanding, snapshot should be very quick, within a few seconds. It is not copy.
