[MH-kodi19 / MH-kodi18 / MH-kodi17] for myHD (16.04 & 18.04 env.)

Post by father.mande »

Hi,

I open this new post for discussion about Kodi18 and Kodi17 in myHD
OLD topics (can be read also) : viewtopic.php?f=42&t=10172

MH-kodi18 and MH-kodi17 are ONLY "launcher for Asportal"
... so the icon and Asportal script are managed in A.D.M. / Asportal part BUT Kodi are executed in myHD isolated environment.

[MH-kodi17] (17.6 last) is compiled for each Ubuntu ... 16.04 and 18.04 and is include in the basic myHD environment
... MH-kodi17 use it's own settings folder (.kodi) under mykodi17 directory for each user able to launch it.
... so MH-kodi17 can cohabit with MH-kodi18
The attachment MH-kodi17.png is no longer available
[MH-kodi18] (actually 18.2) is loaded from the Kodi repository for Ubuntu flavor ... so NOTHING is compiled / added / modified for myHD
... MH-kodi18 use .kodi folder in user HOME as usual in Ubuntu.
... MH-kodi18 have ONLY the core binary part installed ... so if you want to use binary addons delivered as package by Ubuntu, you MUST install it (and dependency) using apt-get (Ubuntu package management tool)
... MH-kodi18 can be updated using the apt-get tool (do it regularly ... to be up to date)
... ... do : apt-get update ; apt-get -y dist-upgrade in a myHD console
... ... OR use in A.D.M. terminal : myHD apt_upgrade_package ... that do the job for you
The attachment MH-kodi18.png is no longer available
[MH-kodi19]
... ONLY AVAILABLE for user changing repository from "Beta/Release Candidate" to "nightly builds" : viewtopic.php?f=227&t=10374
... This change name and icons ONLY
... you MUST remove MH-kodi18 (call the same kodi but name and icons are not coherent) If not ... you just have 2 icons for same Applications ...

Hi,

Updated for people changing the Kodi repository in Ubuntu to get first version of Kodi19
... kodi18 will be removed

MH-kodi18 and MH-kodi19 call the same script (so same Kodi) but Kodi19 have a new icon and title in Asportal

Just to be coherent ... before all will move to Kodi19 when moving from "nightly builds" repository to "bate/release candidate" repository in Ubuntu.

i've an issue with kodi 18

if i run the link on asusportal it god black for a few second than back to the portal
if i try to run it via terminal it gave me this error:
Error: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/kodi/kodi-gbm not found

so i've installed kodi-gbm but still doesn't work
on kodi.log i only find this with something bad:

Hi,

What is your model and A.D.M. / kernel version ?

Black screen is generally do to an error in SSH key ... but in this case NO Kodi error log are generated ????

I will come back to you tomorrow.

Hi,

Kodi-gdm is called when Kodi-x11 have NO X server

in a terminal ... be sure to don't be root
so : myHD_user astr (astr is the default user)
then try to launch Kodi
... use the command kodi or test the specific shell provide by MH-kodi18 :
/myHD_scripts/Apps/MH_kodi18.sh

to verify the error from Asportal point of view
enter as a terminal NOT in myHD
and use :
/usr/local/AppCentral/MH-kodi19/run_MH-kodi18.sh
... to test exactly as asportal do ...

In some case you can use /bin/sh -x /my.... to have a complete debug

Hum! ... Yes, it's a know problem (already discussed in this post ... somewhere)
I will solve (try to) this in next release ... and in addition offer a new approach able to run in isolated environment without ssh (this require to update ld-linux and libc for specific program in A.D.M. without changing Asustor delivery (unfortunately incomplete) ... it's the reason I need some delay for more complete tests (as possible with only one NAS)

F.Y.I. update myHD don't change anything in Ubuntu environment (reuse it as is) ... so update don't destroy anything no more delete your own settings ...

Dear Father.mande,

Thanks for your developing. Great thing. I hesitated long before testing your MH-kodi18 and I tried it this evening. Installation process is simple and Kodi is working at that little thing what I was searching for : PVR.
In the add-on list I unfortunately do not have any PVR addon available. Is there something that I have missed or is anything complementary to do ?

Best regards and have a great day.

Hi pierremilien,

myHD is an Ubuntu environment, so it's like for Ubuntu :
... enter as root in myHD
... open a ssh terminal in A.D.M. using root / your_admin_password (not admin but root)
... switch to myHD as root :
myHD_root
... update packages to be sure to have the last update
apt-get update; apt-get -y dist-upgrade
... when finish (if long and with lot of upgrade ... exit and restart myHD (ot be sure to have the last base update activated)
... search for binary kodi addons (ignore debug version) :
apt-cache search ^kodi | grep -v dbg
... alternative if you search only for pvr : apt-cache search ^kodi-pvr | grep -v dbg
... then install the module(s)
apt-get install kodi-pvr-xxxx (replace xxxx by last part of the name from the list)
... exit myHD_root using exit to return to A.D.M.

repeat for all binary modules required ... this is same for myHD 1.x or myHD 2.x and for kodi 18 or 19

All web information/documentation on Kodi for Ubuntu is available for myHD environment.

Many and great thanks for that ! You made my day ! It worked very well.
Now I'am on step closer :)

Next thing that I need to "debug" is the access to the files from my AS7004T. All my videos are stored in the Media folder of my NAS but myHD seems to don't have access to the SMB nor NFS network nor the local files of the NAS. Is that due tu the fact that myHD work as an emulated computer on the NAS ?
I saw that I have a different IP address in the KODI settings (in 172.X.X.X format) and my entire network is under a 192.168.x.x config.

has anyone faced such thing ?
Thanks in advance and regards
Pierre
