Hi,
The AS5304T Nimbustor 4 comes with 4Gb RAM. Does anyone know if the Crucial 4Gb DDR4-2400 Sodimm RAM is compatible to expand it to 8Gb?
Has anyone used Crucial RAM on any other Asustor models?
Thanks in advance

Re: AS5304T compatible 4Gb RAM
These processors need 'slow' memory, with CL16 timings or higher. I have a AS5202T on order, and I will use two Kingston KVR24S17S6/4 4GB modules with CL 17 timing. Cheap modules, and recommended by Kingston for the J4005 CPU of the AS5202T. I know that the AS5304T has a different CPU, but my guess is that it also needs 'slow'' memory. Lower CL timings don't really show up in most applications anyway.Mr.F wrote:Hi,

I might add that other devices with the same CPU, would not boot if memory with lower CL timings was used.

When you have installed the kingstom on the As5202T tell us how it goes. I have the same Nas.

I'd already used their compatibility table and the RAM is only by Asustor which is not cheap!Fortune wrote:Watch this https://www.asustor.com/service/memory? ... type_id=40

I hadn't thought of Kingston, thanks for that! I have emailed them to enquire about the RAM.
Crucial replied back to me to report that currently, none of their RAM is compatible with the Nimbustor 4.

Re: AS5304T compatible 4Gb RAM
I got my AS5202T this afternoon, took it out of the box, took the 2GB out, and put the 8GB in (2 x Kingston KVR24S17S6/4 4GB 2400 MHz CL17), put the disks in, and started it up.
It's still initializing the disks, but meanwhile I have installed an ADM update, and several applications. No problems what so ever.
By the way, the original memory was DSL, 2400 MHz 2GB CL17.

Translated, they were too lazy to check out what kind of a CPU the Nimbustor 4 has. The CPU has a direct connection to the memory slots, so it is only the CPU that determines what kind of memory can be used. Crucial does have 2400 MHz CL17 SODIMM modules, so I see no reason why they shouldn't work. However, I would go for Kingston, they are by far the biggest player on the market.Mr.F wrote:I hadn't thought of Kingston, thanks for that! I have emailed them to enquire about the RAM.

Great! I just bought the same Kingstom KVR24S17S6 / 4G for my AS5202T and cheaper than the Asustor. Thanks for the information that they are compatible with AS5202T. When they arrive next week or the beginning of the next one, I will put my opinions on them here.Caesar-NL wrote:I got my AS5202T this afternoon, took it out of the box, took the 2GB out, and put the 8GB in (2 x Kingston KVR24S17S6/4 4GB 2400 MHz CL17), put the disks in, and started it up.
