[HOW TO] Using Your NAS as a Home Media Center

Post by Allen@AST »

You can turn your NAS into a home media center by installing Boxee and then hooking up your NAS to your TV via HDMI. The two videos below will show you how.

What you will need:

ASUSTOR 6 Series NAS x 1
Boxee App from App Central
LCD/LED TV with HDMI
USB Mouse & Keyboard (optional)

AiRemote App:
AiRemote for Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... stor.boxee
AiRemote for iOS: https://itunes.apple.com/bm/app/airemot ... d580779741

Videos:

1. Installing Boxee to your ASUSTOR NAS

2. Connecting your NAS to your TV and playing multimedia

Where do you get a compiled version of XBMC that will run on 3xx?

It will be... Asustor staff have been busy rolling out ADM2.0

Once ADM2.0 stable is out they should be able to complete an XBMC app... We are just playing the waiting game until then ;)

I can not find anywhere to put information about Plex....

I have installed Plex but can not login from remote. No matter how I tried with the user name and password, it just did not work....

But then when I got home, I can connect through Plex right away under Lan. And I did some configuration on the Plex account and then done with the Setting/Plex Media Server/MyPlex. The thing that is for sure required in order for remote Plexing is that you got to set the Server is mapped to port xxxxxx

This is what I found out in order to remotely Plexing....
