Expand RAID 5 Volume using 1 less drive

Post by Data_Dan »

In my AS7004T, I currently have 4 x 6 TB drives in my RAID 5 volume for a net size of roughly 18 TB. Is it possible to expand this volume using only 3 x 10 TB drives for a net size of roughly 20 TB? Once the 3rd drive has been added and synced if I remove the 4th drive(6 TB) and click expand capacity will it rebuild the RAID 5 with the correct volume size or do I have to add a 4th 10 TB drive?

You need to add 4 new disks to expand your volume. https://www.asustor.com/en/online/Colle ... ?topic=352
