Backup from one NAS hard drive to the other

Post by dbmurray »

Hi folks.

New owner of a NAS here - the AS-602T.

I want to create a backup scheme which clones or snapshots one part of the NAS file structure to a another part of the NAS file structure on the one box but hopefully on a different hard drive (I have two installed). I want this to be a regular job as well.

I assumed I could do this via rsync, but it won't let me create that type of backup scheme. It only allows me to backup to another external device or another separate NAS.

Can anyone point me to any documentation on how this might be done if possible? I can't see it anywhere online or in the forums. It's quite possible it can't be done.

Hi there,
You can create a "rsync" backup job under "backup and restore".
Here are a steps to do so:
1. Enable "Rsync Server" under Services-->Rsync Server.
2. Create a "Backup Modules" and direct to the path which you want to keep the backup files.
3. Create a "rsync" backup job and put the server address as your NAS's ip.
4. Select the folders/files that you wanna to backup.
5. Follow the wizard to config schedule and other settings.

We also have two documents with more details regarding the Rsync backup:

More useful guide line can be found at below link:

If you have any questions, please let me know, okay?
Hope you enjoy our work of NAS.

Cheers,
